On May 13, 2013, Members of the Monitoring Committee of Estonia – Latvia Programme will visit Ventspils High Technology Park, where two Programme-supported projects have been implemented. Committee members from Estonia and Latvia will be in Ventspils for 13th Monitoring Committee meeting, during which various Programme issues are scheduled for discussion.

On Friday, April 26, Estonia – Latvia Programme will participate in Tagasi Kooli (Back to School) initiative with first three classes tought by Programme Information Manager Kaspars Rūklis, who will teach English classes at Lüllemäe Basic School, which is only 22 km from the Latvian border in Estonia. The topic of all three classes will be “Estonian – Latvian Cooperation”.

Joint offer of two companies – CPD from Estonia and Safege Baltija from Latvia – won the tender and got the rights to carry out ex-ante evaluation of the Estonia – Latvia Programme 2014-2020. These companies signed an agreement on April 11, 2013. The contract amount for these services is 38, 000 EUR plus tax.

The third joint programming committee meeting for preparation of Estonia – Latvia Programme 2014-2020 was held in Rīga on February 13, 2013. The committee, consisting of members from Estonia and Latvia, discussed the current status of the planning process.

On Wednesday, February 20, Estonia – Latvia Programme will organize another cooperation needs assessment seminar for the planning of Estonia – Latvia Programme 2014 – 2020, this time on employment, labor mobility and lifelong learning. Stakeholders from Estonia and Latvia have been invited to participate.

Estonia – Latvia Programme continues to conduct impact interviews with finished project representatives. In January Programme representative visited Protolab project partners in Ventspils and Ogre, Latvia, and learned that the project continues to bring results also two years after completion.

Estonia – Latvia Programme secretariat has started collecting information for measuring impact of programme funded projects that have been already completed some time ago. So far interviews have been conducted with several projects, both with partners on Estonian and Latvian side. The impact interviews have shown many positive effects as well as highlighted some shortcomings.

On December 14, 2012 the annual stakeholders’ conference of Latvian – Estonian Future Cooperation Report, this time focusing on information and communication technologies, will take place in Stockholm School of Economics in Rīga, Latvia. Latvian Minister of the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Edmunds Sprūdžs and Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Communication Juhan Parts will open the conference.
