In early October, a joint seminar for Latvian and Estonian map drawers was successfully held in Sigulda (Latvia) within the project "Est-O-Lat league’’.
Seminar brought together 20 map drawers from Estonia and Latvia in order to provide them with various information about orienteering and map drawing, as well as engage them in a practical workshop on map drawing.
The program included preparation of ground material and the panel for map drawing, working with OCAD map drawing software and other important technical aspects for map drawing in the forest.
There are five more seminars for map drawers planned during the forthcoming months.
Seminars for the map drawers make just a part of all the activities of the project ‘’Est-O-Lat league’’. Also school orienteering days will be organized in Latvian and Estonian schools in October and November. The central activity of the project – joint orienteering competitions in Estonia and Latvia ‘’Est-O-Lat league" will start in January 2011 and continue until July 2012.
The project is implemented by national orienteering federations, and its overall objective is to increase the knowledge and popularity of orienteering in our community.
