This might sound unacceptable to you, but we recommend skipping one visit to your local bakery and come to a baking workshop instead and learn the secrets of baking yourself! Estonia – Latvia programme supported project FoodArt is starting the series of cooking workshops and the first one, taking place in Tartu, Estonia, on January 23 and 24, will be devoted to baked goods.
What to expect from the hands-on baking workshop in Tartu? The organizers promise that there will be introduction mini-lecture and a baking class, led by Chef of Foodstudio and Chairman of the Estonian Chef Association Indrek Kivisalu. What will be baked? That remains a surprise for the moment, but we know that on the second day of the seminar the participants will be able to visit HoReCa business to learn best practices in food producer cooperation with restaurants. Learn from the FoodArt newsletter how to sign up for the workshop.
The target group of FoodArt are people in the food business. The project aims at strengthening the ties between the rural food producers and gourmet restaurants, promoting quality local products and culinary heritage in restaurants and gourmet sector. It will be achieved through joint trainings and experience exchanges for rural producers, as well as networking events with gourmet sector representatives.
Altogether FoodArt project will feature 10 hands-on workshops – five of them taking place in Estonia, the other five – in Latvia. Future workshops will focus on meat/fish products, dairy products, fruit, berries and vegetables, and spices. All trainings will also include a visit to a successful local producer, who will share best practices in developing a product and offering it to restaurants. The next training is scheduled for February 6 and 7, and it will take place in Latvia. The focus of the training and the venue will be announced separately.
